What is the Challenge?

So what is the Machu Picchu Challenge in 2016?

Well, it’s Trekking Peru’s famous Inca Trail to Machu Picchu (The Lost City of the Incas).

It’s a 13 day trip starting on May the 17th 2016 and ending on the 29th of May 2016. The actual challenge is over 4 days, and involves trekking along the Inca Trail for 44km’s over those four days. It’s being run by Inspired Adventures – you can visit their website by clicking the link under ‘Important Links’ on the side menu bar.

On the first day we end our trek at Llactapata (2,788m above sea level) having covered 7km’s today.

The second day we end our trek at Llulluchapampa (3,680m above sea level) having covered 12km’s today.

The third day we end our trek at Phuyupatamarca ruins (3,650m above sea level) having covered 16km’s today.

On the fourth day we end our trek at the town of Aguas Calientes having covered 9km’s today.

As I want to be upfront and honest as possible, i’ll be fundraising to cover both the donation to the Leukaemia Foundation of at least $4,000 and also the travel costs for this trip which are approximately $6,799. The donation to the Leukaemia Foundation are usually tax deductible, however donations to cover the cost of travel are not.

What is the Target for your Campaign?

My target for this campaign is $15,000. If we should raise more money then that, then it’s more for the Leukaemia Foundation to help support Blood Cancer sufferers.
